Hi. I have a question. How can I install Cassandra on Ubuntu? I type the command you gave but they are not working. In addition, based on the manual, it has path Scripts/MCF_Generation/..... where can I get this path? Furthermore, at page 60 of the manual, the length is 1.54 and angle 114.0. Where are values coming from? I am confused with the manual. I read at least 2 times but I still don't know how to use it. Please help. Thank you.

Are you a student who has been asked by your advisor to run Cassandra calculations? If so, you need to talk with them and have them help you with these basic questions.

I think you probably need to learn a lot more of the basics of simulations and Linux operation before you go any further. We do our best to help users who are stuck using Cassandra, but we can't provide training on basic things like compilation, directory management, etc.

Hi. I am student but my supervisor does not know anything about computer. I need to know how to install the Cassandra. I have to learn from beginning. Furthermore, I read the tutorials but I don't know the values that enter manually as I mentioned on last email. Why did you enter these value not other values. I read the manual couple time but still have know idea how to start from begining. I am willing to pay if some one can help me in detail. I am interested learning Cassandra. If possible, you can ask if anyone can help and I am willing to pay for that person. Thank you.

You probably should start by reading some basic textbooks on molecular modeling and force fields. Books by Frenkel & Smit, Allen & Tildesley, and Leach are all good places to start. As for installation, we have provided you with Makefiles that should either work directly for you or be easily modified. Once again, you need to learn how to use these tools and this can be done by self-study. You need to know basics of Linux before you will be able to run Cassandra. Cassandra is a research code and so it is not supported like commercial software. You also should not use it as a black box, or else you will not produce meaningful results. Sorry but I think you need to figure a lot of this out on your own. I encourage you to read the workshop tutorials Eliseo told you about. They are about as self-explanatory as we can make them.

Thank you so much for your reply. Actually, I have read the books you mentioned there. The problem is I don't know much about the Linux so I am looking for detail of installation. I also learn Gromacs and Lammps which are similar to Cassandra but not for MC. Both of them have instruction of installation. On previous reply, you give me the command on terminal for Gfortran, I tried but it does not work. I read the user manual, it mentions some path as Scripts/MCF_Generation/. where is the path, I couldn't find the path any where. In addition, the manual asks to enter some values as 1.54 for bond length and 114.0 for angle. where does the values come from? How do you know these values are good or not? I can pretty sure that the books do not have these values. After running the simulation, how to get what I need such as density or heat capacity? I feel that Cassandra is only usable for the people who wrote the package, not for outsiders like me. But anyway, thank you so much.
